The following Catalogue lists a portion of the collection of Cleopatra renderings available for restoration. We believe the originals were either auctioned off, borrowed, or otherwise displaced. A recently discovered box of high resolution KODAK transparencies revealed over 36 copies of the original production illustrations, in full color. (The complete collection of over 250 illustrations exists in black & white only) Inquires at the Twentieth Century Fox archives suggest that this collection of 8"x10" transparences may be the most complete collection of Cleopatra production illustrations ever assembled since the films production in 1956. They were created by Production Designer John DeCuir Sr. in his Academy Award winning design effort. The thumbnails shown below indicate that these images are suffering the ravages of time. Soon they will be lost forever. Fortunately, at this point in time there is sufficient information remaining to support a restoration effort. The low resolution icons below are only partially corrected for viewing purposes. (see the technology page). We look forward (with your support) to completing the restoration process and restoring these images to their original brilliance. Each of the following illustrations were painted in tempera on 30"X40" illustration board. They were the primary design tool used in conceiving and communicating the extent and nature of the film sets for the Academy Award winning film for art direction, CLEOPATRA Click on the thumbnails with a yellow border for a larger view.
